Emily
is a vivacious five-year old girl who shares a small house with her Grandma, her brother Nathan, and a big dog. Despite her young age, Emily is a natural leader with a love of adventure and high-spirited mischief. Emily’s favorite color is turquoise, and her favorite bands are Shonen Knife and Madness.

The Dog
is five years old and relatively quiet and patient. A boxer – retriever mutt. He’s Emily’s constant loyal friend even though he doesn’t understand a lot of the stuff she’s talking about.

Nathan
is a sixteen year old student at the Nikola Tesla high school, and older brother to Emily. Nathan works very hard to be the very best inventor and engineer. He’s basically a nice guy, but he’s prone to fits of hubris and somewhere along the way he has confused respect for popularity.

Grandma
pretty much runs the show at the house she shares with Emily, Nathan and the Dog. Grandma loves her many cats, especially the gray tabby named Max and a black shorthair named Spooky. Grandma hates the internet because she thinks it’s nasty.

Roger
is Nathan’s chief rival at Nikola Tesla High School. He’s just as smart as Nathan, but a bit more tricky and devious, and blessed with good looks, confidence, and a wealthy family. Roger is a huge Pink Floyd fan. Roger excels at building small and cute robots, like “Little Protonski.”

Maddie
is another rival student of Nathan’s at the Nikola Tesla High School. Maddie is generous and hard-working, and looks to the future with optimism that technology in the right hands will make the world a better place.

James
is Nathan’s best friend and a student at the Nikola Tesla High School. James has awkward manners, is often depressed and consumed with self-loathing. At times he has a similar loathing for the world in general. James understands insects and robots better than humans. He’s very good at building robots that look like insects.
